What I don't like about the iPad

This will probably be a short article 🙂

But, I like the hardware, I like the applications, I like the interface, I like the layout.

What I really don’t like is the PC side of the setup… namely iTunes!  iTunes is the absolute worst piece of crap application ever written and it’s just criminal that we are force to use it in order to do anything with our Apple hardware.

The iPad apps I use

The best way to talk about how well the iPad works for me is to cover the applications that I use on a regular basis.

I’m sure a comparable Android tablet will appear some day and eventually some comparable applications, but until then, the iPad is probably the coolest piece of hardware I’ve ever purchased.  One rule of thought if you’re planning on an Android device.  An Android phone is probably $600 or more without a cell contract, so don’t expect to get a good Android tablet device for under $400.  Sure, they may come cheaper, but they’ll likely be crap.

iPad – 3 months later

It’s been 3 months since I last posted about my iPad so I thought it was a good time to give an update.

Short answer: I use it everyday and am very happy with it!

iPad as a reference tool

I’m going to write a bunch of articles about how I’m using my iPad and why I think it will be very useful to me.

One of the biggest reasons I wanted a tablet/pad like device was so I could use it as a reference tool.  I have about 150 books sitting on my book shelves, and while useful at my desk, I really don’t want to carry them around the house or to the office with me.

So much for the Linux servers

Two months ago, I decided to convert my servers to Ubuntu Linux from Windows 2008.  The conversions all went well, and I had a very nice configuration setup.

But VMware Server just didn’t work the way I needed it.
