I’ve changed hosting providers – again

Well, I did it again.  I changed hosting providers for this blog.  I was running it on a Ubuntu Linux image in a virtual machine at home here for the longest time.  But I had to shut that down since I was converting all my virtual machines from VMware to Hyper-V and I wasn’t interested in fighting with Ubuntu to get it to work.

For a short while, I moved my stuff to the WordPress.com hosting site.  They’re nice enough to allow free hosting of anyone’s blog there.  It has quite a bit of limitations though.

  • They say “Over one hundred themes”.  They mean 102.
  • Using your own domain name costs $12 per year (not bad really).
  • No plugins allowed.

At least the email capability was working.  I never got that working with my setup at home.

I ended up going with WebHostingHub.com since they offered a nice price for unlimited domains, data, and transfer.  I was able to setup this blog under this domain, and another under my Dennis-IT.com domain.  That’s where I’ll be talking about some programming projects I’m working on.

We’ll see how things go over the next three years here 🙂
